BabyBuggies 1 & 2

A Parent/Child program for children ages 12-36 months.


Goals:

  • Water Acclimation
  • How to Enter/Exit the Pool
  • Positioning for the Child and the Parent
  • Kicking
  • Paddling
  • Bubbles, Breath Control and Bobs

BabyBuggies slide easily into LuvBug II or higher upon their 3rd Birthday.

LuvBugs

LuvBug 1

Preschool/Kindergarten, ages 3-5 years. Ideal for new and uncomfortable swimmers


Goals:

  • Water Acclimation & Water Play
  • Bubbles & Breath Control
  • Assisted Front & Back Floats
  • Becoming Comfortable & Confident in Water
  • Jump from Side & U-Turn (assisted)

    LuvBug 2

    Preschool/Kindergarten, ages 3-5 years. Comfortable in group setting, follows rules, ready to learn to swim.


    Goals:

    • Bobs (10-15)
    • Front and Back floats (5-10 seconds)
    • Kick, Front and Back
    • Jump from Side (unassisted)
    • Basic Arm/Leg Coordination

    Preschool/Kindergarten, ages 3-5 years. Satisfied All Goals of LuvBug II.


    Goals:

    • Freestyle with Roll-Over Breathing
    • Elementary Backstroke
    • Backstroke
    • Surface Dive to Bottom

    LuvBug 4

    Preschool/Kindergarten, ages 3-5 years. Satisfied All Goals of LuvBug 3.


    Goals:

    • Freestyle with Bilateral Breathing (up to 25 yards, stopping if needed)
    • Backstroke (up to 25 yards, stopping if needed)
    • Basic Breaststroke (“Frog Stroke”)
    • Summersaults (on land)
    • Streamline Positions and Push-Offs (front & back)
    • Intro. to Goggles and Kickboards

    LuvBugs slide easily into SlugBug Curriculum upon their 6th Birthday.

    SlugBug 1

    Water acclimation for children at least 6-years old who are ready to participate in group setting.

    Goals:

    • Submerge
    • Assisted Front and Back Floats
    • Comfortable and Confident in Water
    • Jump in w/U-Turn (assisted)

    SlugBug 2

    Focus on preliminary stroke work.

    Goals:

    • Bobs (10-15)
    • Front and Back floats (5-10 seconds)
    • Kick, front and back
    • Jump from side, unassisted

    • Freestyle with Bilateral Breathing (4-5 good breaths)
    • Backstroke (10-15 yards)
    • Surface Dive to Bottom

    • Freestyle with Bilateral Breathing (up to 50 yards, stopping if needed)
    • Backstroke (up to 50 yards, stopping if needed)

    Upon Completion of this level students are well prepared to advance to Local Swim Teams

    Pre-Competitive: Starts, turns, endurance, IM, Pace clock, reading/understanding a written workout.

    Goals:

    • 300-500 FR, 100BK, 50 BR, 50 Fly, 200 IM
    • IM Turns
    • Legal Strokes, Starts, Turns, etc.
    • Use of Team Equipment
    • Stroke Drills
    • Approx. 700 yds/Class
    • Mock Meet on Last Day

    Endurance/Technical: Competitive Realm/Triathlete

    Goals:

    • Build Endurance, Fine Tune the Strokes, Assist with Speed
