Our Staff

A HIGHLY TRAINED, DEDICATED TEAM THAT IS HERE TO SERVE

The Colorado Springs Swim School Staff is a diverse group in both age and background.

All staff members are interviewed and hired by the Owner directly, Our Staffand thoroughly screened prior to final hiring to insure the safety of our participants. Instructor Candidates undergo a minimum of 30 hours of training prior to entering the water with students, and an additional 8-10 hours of shadow teaching is required prior to an instructor being given his/her own class.

Instructors range in age from 15 to adulthood. Most have a swimming background, whether it be through lessons or competitive swimming, and all have a love of the water. 2009 Summer Staff Dedicated, nurturing, and safety oriented are the traits that define our Swim School staff. Despite the young age of some of our instructors, we maintain the highest quality program in the Colorado Springs Area.

Swim School Aides are typically 13-14 years of age and complete all the hiring and training requirements of an instructor. The primary role of a Swim School Aide is to assist our instructional staff with demonstrations, and provide an additional set of hands and eyes within a given class. We have found over the course of the years that providing this role increases the quality of our instructional staff, allows for a safer learning environment for our participants, and gives young teenagers the opportunity to “get their feet wet” in the working world in a safe and supportive environment. Aides typically go on to become some of our finest instructors.

Colorado Springs Swim School requires all Instructional and Supervisory staff members to hold and maintain, at a minimum, current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer andAmerican Red Cross First Aid certifications during their employment. Supervisory and management staff varies in additional certification and affiliation from Lifeguard Instructor to Certified Pool Operator.

The Swim School has partnered with the Pikes Peak American Red Cross as an Authorized Provider and currently houses four certified Lifeguard Instructors who head up the Health and Safety side of the business while monitoring and maintaining the skills of our staff. Skills checks and staff in-service trainings are held routinely throughout the year to maintain proficiency and insure the safety of our clients.
